Project Description

A purpose-driven networking app that leverages intelligent matchmaking and community-centric features to connect like-minded professionals



Problem

Professionals in the tech and startup scenes from first time entrepreneurs to seasoned industry leaders face significant challenges in networking effectively. Traditional platforms are saturated, often leading to superficial connections that fail to translate into meaningful business relationships. People in these spaces often struggle with finding and maintaining connections that align with their specific needs and goals, resulting in lost opportunities and unfulfilled potential.



Solution

Purpose-Driven Networking: A gateway to enriching in-person interactions by seamlessly blending the digital world with real-life connections. Intelligent Matchmaking: Connecting mission-aligned individuals to enable meaningful relationships and fruitful outcomes. Community-Centric: A space for users to celebrate their journey, share experiences, learn from others, and stay connected with the network they build. Fostering Lasting Bonds: Nurturing long-term relationships with tools and resources that help maintain and strengthen connections.



Process

I designed and developed the app using Figma and Flutterflow. Features included allowing users to easily connect with people in local events, keep connections with memory cues, locate people in events easily with public/private live location sharing, discover new connections in their live perimeter, discover and share original content to keep their connections in the loop.



Results

Releasing the Flan beta at Xpand Conference 2024, our goal was to gain 100 beta testers. Our results were a staggering 400 beta testers with incoming requests weeks after the beta release at the event. A Microsoft employee said "I used it, I will use it again, and I would recommend everyone to use it." Another startup founder stated: "Using Flan saves us effort and time and helps us navigate big events better and more efficiently." The CEO of Kilograms, the event management company responsible for Xpand Conference, "I want Flan to be the official Xpand app."
